Synopsis
For most of us, as we go about doing our 'normal everyday things' in our 'normal everyday lives', it is easy to become absorbed in our own life in a world where the primary concern is looking after our own worries and interests. We can become oblivious to the fact that for many others, life is not as simple as just looking after ones' self.

EXISTENCE is a story about a life that extends far beyond the self. The program looks at a life of complete sacrifice where one life is completely dependent on the needs of another. Matty has autism. He finds it extremely difficult to communicate and since he was a toddler, Matty has needed constant attention to help him interact with a world that does not quite understand his condition. Meet Bev, Matty's mother and primary carer. A woman of great passion and energy, Bev has devoted herself to giving Matty the quality of life that every child deserves. Yet despite the incredible demands of time that this requires she still manages to raise awareness of AUtism and give support and encouragement to other parents. Through Matty Bev has come to see a world that is too often overlooked by governments and mental health researchers. But rather than try to fight on by herself she helped build a network of support and in the process has helped many other parents who everyday encounter the same difficulties as she does.

EXISTENCE offers an insight into someone who puts an ultimate value on life, and who has willingly dedicated her own life to upholding that value.
