Blog: GENE POOL mutates onto the radio
Evolution, mutation and transformation - what do these themes evoke for you? We asked. And, you played!
An epiphany of enlightening poetry, rollicking remixes, magical montages, images, compositions, songs, and much else was unleashed .... in this year of Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.
Thanks for contributing to the Gene Pool project, with special acknowledgement of the Media students at RMIT University who went all out with their projects. Dog breeding, soap operas, transgendered transformations, existential angst, meme culture, fairytales and faith - they unpicked evolution in really lateral ways.
Genes mutate, as do bodies, brains and cultures...And so do radio shows!
In the spirit of Gene Pool we've been doing a bit of mutating ourselves, and a mash-up of your audio offerings to Gene Pool will air on ABC Radio National's All in the Mind this week.
It times with another Charlie celebration - the 150th anniversary of his On the Origin of Species was on the 24th November.
Tune in live:
- All in the Mind on Saturday 28thand Monday 30th Nov at 1pm (find your Radio National frequency)
- Internationally on Radio Australia
Or, download the podcast.
You might even want to mashup up the show further, and upload your mutation to Gene Pool!
Yours in mutation and transformation,
Natasha Mitchell on behalf of the Gene Pool team
