Project: Sea Things
A public poetry project for the island-continent. Upload your poems and stories of the sea!
Imagine a duffle bag of poems making a journey from five Australian ports. Imagine those poems being opened up on board, and their readers jotting down an observation or illustration that happened as they read.
The Sea Things national literary project will see four newly commissioned poems and poems from you, the public, making a journey along eastern and western coastlines onboard a mix of private, commercial and naval vessels. See some examples here at the Red Room Blog.

Timelines:
Starting on 1 October, the poems will travel on two routes, north from Hobart and Fremantle, with stopovers in Devonport, Melbourne, Broome, Darwin, Port Kembla, Brisbane and Cairns.
The two lots of poetic "cargo" will gather written observations and illustrations from their captains, passengers and land-based supporters along the way.
The final port of call will be Thursday Island in Torres Strait, where the journey will collect a fifth work composed and performed by the community and students of the Tagai State College.
The duffle bags containing the final works will then be flown to Sydney in November for a public performance on Sydney Harbour.
