Gene Pool

Project: Gene Pool

GENE POOL: EXPAND IT!
2009 is the year of all things Charles Darwin. We're creating a Gene Pool and invite you to be part of its evolution and adaptation.

EVOLUTION - WHAT DOES IT EVOKE FOR YOU?
It's much more than ‘survival of the fittest’, sex and scientists. Genes and viruses mutate but ideas, societies, bodies and brains do too. Whether you’re into lab life, remix culture, or sharing ideas – add your own creation or mutate those of others.

OR MUTATE THE ABC ARCHIVES
In a first, we'll be contributing ABC archival material to the Gene Pool. Use the archives for inspiration - or adapt, recombine and remix them any way you like.

WHAT NEXT?
Join the Gene Pool group, start uploading, work with the ABC archives, chat in the forum, and see what other people are creating.

It could be an evolution-inspired story, a poem, a photo, a song, sounds, a doco or some video art. Make it as evolved or embryonic as you like.

YOU'LL BE SELECTED, NATURALLY!
The best audio entries will be broadcast on Radio National's All in the Mind and The Night Air. All audiovisual entries will go into the running for an exhibition at RMIT in Melbourne in November during Super Human: Revolution of the Species (Nov 22-25th 2009).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
All standard Pool terms & conditions of use apply. In addition, all entries to Gene Pool must:
- be uploaded to the gene Pool group. By doing this you agree to licence the ABC and ANAT the non-exclusive, non-commercial right to
(i) broadcast your work on free-to-air radio through ABC Radio National’s All in the Mind and The Night Air programs,
(ii) communicate the work to the public online by the Pool website or any other part of the ABC website; and
(iii) publicly exhibit your work at RMIT as part of the Super Human: Revolution of the Species
(iv) audio/video entries no longer than 7 minutes, and text entries no longer than 2000 words.

Gene Pool is a joint initiative of ABC Radio National, ANAT - Australian Network of Art and Technology, RMIT and Evolution: The Festival.
