Text: What the hell is Pool?
Hello, hello,
is this thing working?
My name is Wayne and I was just minding my own business and browsing the internet when I stumbled accross this site called pool. That's Pool . org .au it's a place where people log their stories, video clips and articles. Check it out, just type in pool.org.au and see what comes up. First of all I thought this can't be right, a content management system that nobody knows about. So I clicked on explore ( that's the blue writing just above the picture) and I could not believe my eyes, up came four stories for my perusal. Go on try it your self, just put the arrow on the blue writing spelling explore and click the left button on your mouse. After I picked myself up from the floor, I then tried clicking on "all works" and a world of videos, audio clips, picture and interesting article opened up before my eyes. Don't take my word for it try it yourself, go on I'll wait while you have a go---------------------see I told you!
Anyway, this is were it gets interesting, after scrolling down a bit I came to a blue picture that looked surprisingly familiar and at the bottom of it was the words "Waynes word on web", so moving like a stunned mullet I place my pointer over the words and left clicked. My whole world fell apart, there on the illuminated page for the whole world to see was my intimate thoughts!
Now I'm asking your help, dear readers, to find out who is responsible for this. Who are these people, they seem to work for the government and have associations with different universities. Have they been following people? Are they secret agents? How much do they know about my life or YOURS!?
I'm signing off now because I am afraid to spend too much time here in case they are running a trace, but I will contact you again.
Just THINK about it

THERE IS A GLITCH - you don't see your comment when you post like this - not until you click back on another time.

WWW - good to see you don't change (much) as things alter all around you.
Andrew - why not advertise this new feature on the front page -whatever it is called - so that people KNOW, and they know they will just be anonymous unless they sign up??????????????
I wonder if anyone will read this ho hum la de da.

(not anonymous, just too lazy to sign on and click the 5 buttons necessary to get back to this spot).

Hi Everyone,
A quick note to let you know that there's no need to run! And there's not a glitch in the system! As part of our ongoing work to improve this beta site, we're running a test to see what happens if we allow people to comment without signing up to Pool.
This is an experiment so we'd really appreciate your feedback - both good and bad! There's also a possibility that we may see an increase in spam so please use the alert button if you come across anything you think breaches our community guidelines.
Here's a quick reminder of the process!

What do you expect Peter, Pool is just a place for people to splash around in, at random, and bump into other swimmers, at random - isn't it?

Wayne, sure,
But try getting there from the ABC's websites? Or from the memories of the bulk of the staff? Or from the database used by their receptionists? I find paranoia a bore, generally, but when my emails vanish in front of me as I watch, and when I get audio signals at coherent points as I type, but not ever otherwise, (the thing does ding, and once three dings when I typed that as a question) then I think SETI is working well. And, our organisation's email list was destroyed, with an error message I have never seen before. And, emails to three addresses at the president of Venezuelas' office come back from Daemon again and again saying they have been blocked. So, just maybe they are being blocked. As precisely the same happened to Carmen in Spain. So, who are the anonymous folk in the Haiti Disaster Group, and what do they want?
I am happy to work with them and have always said the CIA invented the net and so is perfectly entitled to control it, but here, while they, if it is them, block and obstruct, a million people are starving, perhaps to death, if something is not done quickly. This is building up to be a disaster of the size of Hiroshima, not the quake, post the quake. Very little agriculture seems to have survived all the pre-quake fussing, in Haiti, so they live on aid food almost entirely. One more revolution coming up, looks to me, if the aid operation does not up itself a notch. Meanwhile, the western media can talk of nothing but kids kidnapping by well-meaning nutters. For three day now.
So when my phone suddenly goes crystal clear, for the first time ever (I mumble a lot, see) and then the voice at the end says it is the ABC, but has never heard of Pool, what am I to think?
The numbers in my email inbox have been in a band of ten, up and down, 2166 to 2176, for four days, where they always went up before, for about a year. Fun stuff, but not for the folk who are hungry.
And no-one from the ABC rings back, with the slightest curiosity? Must be novel in this, somewhere.
